SALSA (Safe and Local Supplier Approval) was specifically set up to help small local food manufacturers who did not have the resources to comply to the BRC Standard.

SALSA is a standard specialising in Food Safety and demonstrates that the producer is operating to Hygiene Standard which is recognised and accepted within the industry and goes beyond the minimum legal requirements demanded.

The SALSA standard is supported by the National Farmers Union (NFU), The Food and Drink Federation (FDF), The British Hospitality Association (BHA), and the British Retail Consortium (BRC).

The SALSA standard is now recognised by many of the retailers and food service providers and an acceptable standard for small local producers.
